Phonics
Last week we spent time revisiting the phase 3 sounds, we started with ai and ee. This week we will be looking at the short and long sounds for oo. For example the short sound is the 'oo' sound in book and the long sound is 'oo' as in room. I will link some fun geraldine the giraffe videos down.
A little bit of information about phonics
Each phonics lession has a revisit element so that the children can recap the sounds that they already know. Then we move on to the teaching part which is the introduction of the sound of the day. The children then have the chance to practise reading words with the sound of the day and writing them. They then apply their knowledge, this is usally through writing a simple dictated sentence.
