Phonics

This week I have moved on to phase 4, many of the children are now ready for this. If you feel that your child is not ready that is fine. I would encourage you to complete the phonics booklet daily, really focusing on phase 3. Continue using phonics play daily to read words (this really helps with blending), practise writing the sounds down in fun ways.

Here are a few ways of keeping the children motivated. Writing on different materials, foil/coloured/glitter paper also I found writing on white t-shirts was really popular with the boys as they think it's mischievous! They were then able to wear the tops. We used crayola washable pens so we it came off after a wash and it was very motivating.

Writing in chalk, gel pens, sparkly pens.

Mark making in sand, glitter, soil, paint.

I also found a BBC link to phase 3 sounds, focus on one sound per day. There are also lots of resources from previous weeks that you can access.
