 Music

Music Intent:

At East Hanningfield, we are passionate about developing and creating a love of music within all our children. Music teaching at East Hanningfield Primary School follows the specifications of the National Curriculum; providing a broad, balanced and differentiated curriculum and ensuring the progressive development of musical concepts, knowledge and skills.

We believe that music plays an integral role in helping children to feel part of a community, therefore we provide opportunities for all children to create, play, perform and enjoy music both in class and to an audience. We aim to develop pupils who: enjoy and have an appreciation for music; listen to, review and evaluate music across a range of historical periods, genres, cultures, styles and traditions; can sing and use their voices to create different effects; create and compose music, both on their own and with others, use a range of musical language; make judgements and express personal preferences about the quality and style of music and take part in performances with an awareness of audience.

Art and Design

Art and Design Intent:

Our Art and Design curriculum aims to inspire children and develop their confidence to experiment and create their own works of art. Through our scheme of work, we intend to give pupils every opportunity to develop their ability, nurture their talents and interests, express their ideas and thoughts about the world, as well as learning about art and artists across cultures and through history.

We have celebrated the children's art work across the school on display in the hall.

    Design and Technology

    Design and Technology Intent:

Our Design and Technology curriculum inspires pupils to be innovative and creative thinkers, who have an appreciation for the product design cycle. Children develop the confidence to take risks to solve real life problems, through drafting design concepts, making and testing.  We aim for children to be reflective learners who evaluate their work and the work of others. Children will leave East Hanningfield with an understanding of the impact of design and technology on our lives and as resourceful, capable and enterprising citizens who have the skills to contribute to future design advancements.
