School Council 2024
Our School Council!
Our school council are a group of children from Year 1 to Year 6 who meet once a week to discuss a range of ideas and make decisions. The children have been chosen by their classes to represent them at school council meetings throughout the year. They always report back to their classes giving all children a chance to add their ideas and opinions. These are then fed back to the school council in the next meeting.

Ukuleles!
The school council contacted our Friends of East Hanningfield and asked about the possibility of them using some of their funds to support buying a set of ukuleles for class music lessons. The lovely Friends of East Hanningfield have agreed and we have purchased a class set! Our music teachers have changed the music curriculum to incorporate this. An example of a school council idea changing our school!

The school council were given a donation from Alfie in class 3. Alfie had been gifted some money from the local community following his 'kindness challenge' at Christmas. Alfie chose to donate this to school council who invited Alfie to one of our meetings to decide how to use it. The school council and Alfie have decided to purchase some seeds for the school site and the church grounds. Thank you so much, Alfie!
Themed lunch Thursdays!
The school council have given Mrs Jacques in the kitchen a list of themes they would like to celebrate and ideas for the lunch menus. Mrs Jacques is working very hard to incorporate these into her menus! So far we have had, Chinese new year, Valentines, Indian, Mexican, Italian and space and picnic lunch themes!
The London Mini- Marathon for schools
The school council organised this years London Mini-Marathon for schools. The whole school took part in 2.6 miles of running, walking, hopping, skipping or dancing. Everyone put so much effort into this and it was great to see the children with their running numbers on! The school council had asked if we could participate as a school and raise money for Great Ormond Street Children's hospital and how could we say no!
I am very proud to say that as a school we have raised £184.24 
which is just amazing!

Pet competition- Tuesday 29th June
Today in our meeting we were privileged to be asked to judge the 'Friends of East Hanningfield' pet competition. It was really difficult as all the pets were wonderful but we chose the winners working as a team and listened to everyones opinions and reasons. Well done to all of the winners and a big thank you to Friends for trusting us with this task!
Euros celebration- Friday 18th June
FOOTBALL'S COMING HOME! Today we had a super school council event that raised over £170 for new football nets on our playground/field. Children were invited to wear a football top or any sports top for a donation of 50p. A big thank you to Buddy's dads business, EB Contractors Ltd, who made a big donation to the school councils funds. Well done to our school council for planning and organising
