In Doves class we will have PE every Friday afternoon. As the rules have been relaxed, all children will get changed at school, so they will be able to leave their PE bags on their named peg. Our first lesson will be Friday 10th September 2021, and I will send them home each half term to be washed so they are ready for the next few weeks!
Please ensure all long hair is tied back, earrings are removed and your child has the correct PE uniform if possible.
Our swimming lessons in Doves class will take place on a Wednesday afternoon. The first session will be Wednesday 8th September 2021 and our last session will be Wednesday 13th October 2021 when we will finish for the winter months. Children will go for their lesson in small groups of 4/5 and Mrs Gray will be on hand to help them with changing. Once the lesson is finished they will get changed and join me back in the classroom.
If you have any questions about this please come and see me or message me on Dojo!
Homework will be given out on a Friday and then expected in by the next Friday morning. The homework will either be a piece of English or maths to complete and these will be alternated each week. Children will be given a homework folder to keep everything in neatly and I will mark each piece for them . Although homework is not compulsory, it will be based on what we have been learning in school and it will benefit the children to recap. I have a homework dojo to give out worth 3 points for everyone that does their homework!
Reading is a huge focus, especially in year 1 and 2 as the children will be completing a phonics screening check which you will get more details about closer to the time. In Doves class we have a 'star reading chart' where children get to move their own star up depending on how many times they have read at home. If they read 3 times (or more) they will get dojos and a prize from our prize box. Most importantly, this is to get children to enjoy reading a range of books! We will also be continuing to use VIPERS, and will be focusing on one strand a week. Once again, if children use VIPERS at home and this is recorded in their reading records they will get VIPER dojos for this!
